Christmas in Summer

Here in Vancouver, we have had 2 days of rain. Only 2 days! That is considered a dry spell for us.

Well, the first sign of the changing season has come, and the second sign was in the costco catalogue.

Deck the halls with sun and beaches!

Yup, you are seeing correctly. Those are ads for Christmas trees, heated mats, ice rinks, and ski gloves. It is only the first of September, which is still technically summer, and we are already being bombarded with winter and Christmas.

I love Christmas as much as the next person- maybe even more- but even I think this is ridiculous. This seems to happen earlier and earlier every year. The kids haven’t even gone back to school. Give us some time to say goodbye to our summer. I’m not ready for trees, and shopping, and Christmas cheer… I could go for a good rum and egg nog, though.
